By General Secretary of the NDP Young Democrats Shabazaah GunMunro-George
The NDP accepted responsibility already. He arrives on his horse with an attempt to politicize the issue. Now I went to the school on Friday where I saw the moss covering the hard court in the middle of the school.
Saturday I arrived when the second phase of the power washing and scrubbing begun, I saw for myself the magnitude of work that had to go into getting the school ground to the clean condition it is in now.
I’m sure that he is well aware that the male bathroom at the school has no proper urinal system and the toilets in both bathrooms hardly work.
I could imagine the amount of work the cleaners (if any) has to do on a daily basis to get those bathrooms to get close to clean for the children.
I am even more sorry for the children who have no choice but utilize these facilities since they have no other alternative.
There is a concrete structure left at the entrance of the school that should contain pipes where the children drink water.
That structure is covered by moss inside and out and the NDP candidate and next representative for that constituency already indicate that he would clean it this upcoming weekend.
So yes it’s very easy to jump out on the issue of the portable toilets but are you aware Mr Minister that the school needs help?
The candidate for the NDP didn’t even reference the work done to prepare the school for the convention.
Since you claim to care so much about the students and staff and parents then why have you neglected the school in this way.
The school serves as a hurricane shelter. We are now in the hurricane season, I trust and hope you try to do some needed maintenance to this school as soon as possible for the children and the people of the community who might need to use these facilities soon.
I invite the general public to go by and visit the school, and I urge the minister to see how soon he can fix this school before the public starts crying shame on him.
