Center Of Storm Kirk To Be Near St Vincent Late Next Week

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services continues to monitor two recently formed tropical cyclones.

These systems are Tropical Depression “11” and Tropical Storm Kirk, located over the Central and far Eastern Atlantic respectively.

At 11 am, Tropical Depression “11” was located near latitude 13.2° North; longitude 53.8°West or about 485 miles east St. Vincent and the Grenadines with movement towards the west near 3 mph.

This “depression” is forecast to dissipate or weaken into a tropical wave east of the Lesser Antilles by late Sunday.

However, the remnants associated with this system is likely to generate shower activity overnight Sunday into Monday.

Meanwhile, at 11 am, Tropical Storm Kirk was centered near latitude 8.3° North; longitude 23.6° West or about 2580 miles east of the Lesser Antilles.

Maximum sustained are near 40 mph with higher gusts. On the current forecast track, the center of this system is forecast to approach St. Vincent and the Grenadines by late next week.

All residents are advised to keep informed on the progress of Tropical Storm Kirk and pay close attention to information being issued by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services.
